Mage – Damage, Crowd Control and Magic

Mages are casting damage dealers that use mana to cast their spells. Mages have different types of spells and abilities they use to deal as much possible damage, like Arcane missiles, Frost Bolt and Fire Bolt.

The Mage class can be chosen by the Gnome, Draenei and Human races of the Alliance and by the Troll, Undead and Blood Elf races of the Horde. The Mage class is a very nice and playful class and is always welcomed in PvP arena teams and in raid/instance groups. A Mage can cast several buffs but the most important buff for any party or raid is definitely the Arcane Brilliance buff which increases Intellect . However, this buff isn’t the only thing that made Mages popular class. Click here to watch the video WoW Mage

A mage is also famous for his “consumables”, meaning he can make food & water for his own purposes and for other players as well. These special “consumables” a Mage can make will restore one’s hp and mana and are always a need. It is also nice to have Mages in the group because they can Polymorph Humanoids and Beasts. Nowadays there is a lot of tank and spank fights which are fairly easy but nevertheless, crowd control Mages possess, is always welcome.

Mages buffs, spells that can create and transform are all nice but they don’t make him the best player in the game and it is that his damage spells and abilities make him a great damage dealer. His spells are based on Arcane, Fire and Frost damage. Spells like Blizzard, Flame Strike, Arcane Explosion, Cone of Cold and other damaging spells do damage on multiple mobs and can place a Mage on top of the damage meters. The Arcane talent tree is very interesting because it has become a better talent tree through time. Where previously Arcane was hardly used and if it was used it was usually in combination with the Frost or Fire talent tree, the Arcane talent build is now very nice for both PvE and PvP. The first talent tree you will come across with a Mage is the Arcane tree which nowadays, with some improvements, became more popular. Before there were hardly any Mages with an Arcane spec and this spec was usually combined with either Frost or Fire, but nowadays it is a great spec for both PvP and PvE Mages. A really good point of Arcane talent tree is that it will provide Mages with nice mana-efficient talents, nice damage dealing abilities and even more. If you want the pure damage then the Fire talent tree is perfect for you. This talent tree will offer offensive damage abilities and spells to a Mage as well as an increased crit strike rating which all together would give your mage an astonishing damage output.

If you prefer PvP to PvE, then you should become a Frost mage. The Mage’s talent trees are fun to play with because you can also combine different talents from different talent trees . By using Frost spells you would also be able to summon a special kind of companion – the Water Elemental that will help you in any fight, either PvP or PvE. All three talent builds could be interesting and fun and what’s more important, you can combine them all as you like or play them separately!.

It may take some time until you find the best talents build suitable for your game play but when you do, you will definitely become one of the best damage dealers in game. If you would like more information on WoW guides check out one of our popular guides here: Joana’s Guide
